The system (100) configurable as a stand-alone and portable device includes a control device (120) configured to support the erasure module (140). The erasure module (140) is configured to erase the hard disk drive (170) so that data erased from the hard disk drive (170) cannot be recovered in a forensic manner. The system (100) also includes a user interface (101) and at least one drive rack (110) configured to provide communication between the hard drive (170) and the control device (120).
