What Is a Magnetic Cloud?

Magnetic clouds are generally considered to be the counterpart of CME in interplanetary space, and are one of the major solar eruptions that cause geomagnetic storms.

Magnetic cloud

Magnetic clouds are generated in the solar wind when the solar burst (flares and coronal mass ejection) scatters matter with magnetic fields.
These magnetic clouds can be found in the solar wind when observing characteristics such as wind speed, density, magnetic field size and direction of the solar wind.
